SE Design has a career opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer in our Sherwood Park, Alberta office.

Position Duties:

- Plan and design water resources infrastructure, including grading, drainage systems, storm sewers, culverts, channels, stormwater facilities, erosion controls, and related utilities, in accordance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate drainage and stormwater designs with roadways, grading, utilities, geotechnical requirements, landscaping, and construction.
- Assess existing drainage and stormwater systems, identify deficiencies and risks, and recommend rehabilitation or upgrades.
- Prepare and review stormwater management plans, drainage studies, flood assessments,



and technical memoranda.
- Review calculations, models, drawings, specifications, reports, and regulatory submissions for accuracy and quality.
- Evaluate design alternatives, prepare cost estimates, and support client, agency, utility, landowner, and community engagement.
- Review survey, hydrometric, geotechnical, environmental, and utility data and coordinate supplemental investigations as required.
- Prepare plans, figures, profiles, mapping, calculations, and model summaries for reports, approvals, tendering, and construction.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, client communications, and multidisciplinary teams from proposal through closeout.
- Use PCSWMM, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, spreadsheets, and other industry-standard software for modelling, calculations, design, and estimates.
- Mentor junior staff through work assignments, technical guidance, training, and QA/QC review.

Qualifications:

- A bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- Proficient knowledge of water resources engineering principles, including stormwater management, drainage design, and floodplain analysis.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing, or eligible for registration with APEGA.
- A minimum of 5 – 7 years’ of relevant post-graduate experience in water resource engineering.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports,



and supporting documentation for stormwater or drainage projects.
- Familiarity with risk-based decision-making and trade-off analysis, including consideration of cost, schedule, operability, and environmental performance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, PCSWMM, spreadsheets, predictive models, and other industry-standard software used for engineering analysis, technical reporting, and design.
- Excellent communication skills, including teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional project-specific requirements that may involve travel, field assignments, or work outside standard business hours.
