Product Development Coordinator
Location: 530 West Broadway, Vancouver BC, Canada / Lake City Way Warehouse, Burnaby, BC Canada
Core hours: Monday to Friday from 8am – 4:30pm PST
This is a 32-hour-per-week position , with employees working four days per week during the company's core operating hours.
Onsite Role: This position is required to be onsite 4 days a week
Role Summary
The Product Development Coordinator - Formulations is responsible for supporting projects involving the planning, development, and testing of cosmetic and OTC formulas. This role is based out of the Broadway office and works at the Burnaby (Lake City Way) warehouse with lab facility at least once per week.
Responsibilities
Perform internal validation testing and document results in a descriptive and organized manner.
Set up third-party testing and coordinate sample shipments to ensure testing schedules are achieved.
Collaborate with quality and renovation project owners on executing internal and external testing.
Set up suitable tests with external labs to ensure consistent safety and efficacy.
Drive the sample review process for stakeholders' evaluation – perform sample portioning, detailed labels and distribution/shipping.
Plan and execute internal user testing, analyze feedback and distill insights back to Innovation team.
Support new product developments by researching trends to complete analysis for Innovation team.
Prepare formulation post-launch analysis summaries and make recommendations to streamline future developments.
Research ingredients, actives and technologies and summarize findings as needed.
Coordinate product focus groups and surveys to provide insight into proposed products as needed.
Oversee collection prototype logs and maintain organized samples storage
Manage product disposition to ensure storage space is used effectively
Ensure testing supplies inventory is stocked and organized.
Maintain database of product test reports, results and specifications.
Update formula trackers and ingredient tools with current and change entries.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology or other relevant applied science disciplines
1 to 2 years of work experience within a R&D; / Product Development capacity.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams).
Excellent organization skills and ability to manage time effectively.
Robust problem identification and resolution skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate within a team environment.
Demonstrate ability to take initiative.
Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed.
