We have a reputation for superior quality and expertise in the industry and work in a variety of residential and commercial settings.PurposeThe Shop Hand aids everyday operations at NSWW’s shop and at construction sites. Responsibilities include loading and unloading tools, raw or finished materials, assembling countertops and wood products, installing laminate countertops, assisting with quartz installs, and prepping and cleaning install sites.Adaptability, quick learning, and clear instruction-following are essential for success.Duties and ResponsibilitiesImplement construction plans and follow supervisor instructions.Perform physical duties as assigned.Operate and maintain power tools, machinery, and equipment.Assist skilled tradesmen with their responsibilities.Track work hours on a project basis and provide job progress updates.Assist on installs: Provide extra hands, clean and prepare install sites, and move, secure, install, build, load, or unload equipment and materials per instructions.Work in the shop: Cut stock parts, assist with cabinetmaking (sanding, cutting, edging, etc.), ship and receive, and organize and sort inventory.QualificationsKnowledge and experience with power tools and machinery is necessary.Experience on a construction site is a plus.Completion of high school diploma, GED, specialization,



or certificate is an asset.Apprenticeship training from a technical school is a plus.Core CompetenciesOutstanding hand-eye coordination.High degree of attention to detail.Safety focused with a strong ability to follow procedures.Positive attitude and willingness to learn new things.Able to multitask and prioritize.Good grasp of measurements and mathematics.Able to lift heavy items independently (approx. 100 lbs).Experience with power tools and/or saws.A valid driver’s license is an asset.First aid certificate is an asset.Forklift certification is an asset.Working ConditionsExposure to distracting or uncomfortable sounds and noise levels.May involve exposure to very hot or cold temperatures when working outdoors.May involve working in very bright or very dim lighting conditions.May involve exposure to contaminants or chemicals (e.G., fumes from paints or sealers).May involve use of hazardous machinery or equipment.May require lifting heavy loads up to 50 lbs.Overtime and hours outside of typical working schedule may be required.Some travel may be required.Compensation & BenefitsWage is paid hourly and based on experience within a range of $18.00 - $25.00 per hour.
