About the Opportunity
- Provide technical evaluations, advice, and solutions in support of facility commissioning, operation, and maintenance.
- Identify potential problems and opportunities, prepare reports, and initiate studies or investigations for improvement.
- Review proposals from internal and external sources, recommend changes, and prepare documentation for approval.
- Develop specifications for materials, services, and equipment; support procurement and installation activities.
- Ensure compliance with fire protection codes and standards (CSA, NFPA, NFCC) and licensing conditions.
- Provide guidance on fire hazard assessments, fire response equipment lifecycle, and personal protective equipment.
- Support development and updates of standards, procedures, and guides to meet regulatory requirements.
- Assist with fire risk assessments, Fire Safe Shutdown Analysis, and Fire Hazard Assessments.
- Develop response plans for postulated fire scenarios based on licensing basis and safety requirements.
- Maintain ongoing review processes to identify risks and recommend modifications to fire response protocols.
- Liaise with department managers to improve fire protection service delivery.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and corrective action plans to address regulatory requirements.
- Support collaboration with external fire protection and emergency response groups.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
- 6–8 years of experience in engineering roles related to facility design, commissioning, operation, or maintenance.
- Knowledge of fire protection engineering, hazard assessment, and compliance with codes and standards (CSA N293, CSA N393, NFPA, NFCC).
- Experience in nuclear or highly regulated industrial environments is an asset.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear reports and recommendations.
- Proven ability to evaluate proposals, conduct risk assessments, and provide technical guidance.
- Experience supporting emergency response programs and fire protection initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross?functional teams and external organizations.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in fire protection and emergency response practices.
Pay Range
$74.3 - $74.31/hr
