Position OverviewThe City of Saint John, Growth & Community Services, is seeking a Manager of P.R.O. Kids - Positive Recreation Opportunities for Kids. This position is responsible for managing this program and further developing its potential for the Greater Saint John area, reporting to the Manager, Community Development, and working closely with the P.R.O. Kids non‑profit program that provides opportunities for children and youth to participate in positive healthy recreational, sport, art, and cultural activitiesWork closely with the P.R.O. Kids Advisory Committee, providing leadership and direction on fundraising and event planning initiatives, program and service opportunities, policy, and process improvement recommendationsSetting clear strategic direction in line with overall service area objectives such as inclusive programs and services, community recreation related matters, operating budgets, capital budgets, corporate priorities and annual work plans and program developmentReport regularly to senior staff, and Common Council on policies and protocols, program efforts and outcomesSupport the Manager, Community Development, by providing insight, guidance and support and acting on their behalf as appropriateDemonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with community partners, donors, and volunteersExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speakingEnsure policies, procedures, and business practices are in place and followedResponsible for the development and implementation of marketing plans and fundraising strategies,
including event managementPrepare operating and capital budget requests, reviewing and authorising budget expenditures, monitoring and analysing monthly budget summaries and taking actionManaging and authorising the purchase of goods and services by way of requisitions, purchase orders, payment vouchers, etc., and authorising payment of invoices within established organisational limits and budgetary restrictionsOversee planning, supervision, control and coordination of programs, activities, operations, and projects within the work unitManage staff, communicate responsibilities and functions clearly, and set appropriate performance standardsCreate a engaging and safe work environment that encourages self‑assessment, continuous learning and improvement, achievement, and accountabilityEnsure a positive and productive employee relationship climateEssential QualificationsUniversity Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Event Planning or a related field.Minimum of 5 (five) years progressive experience in leading and directing fundraising strategies, event management, marketing plans, and serving the community.An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.Proficiency in both official languages would be a definite asset.The successful applicant may be eligible to participate in a Flexible Time Options Program which includes the option of working a 4 or 5‑day work week, subject to business requirements.Equal Opportunity EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
