hoist and move materials to and from the workstation; performs crane checks daily prior to use.Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint.Operate welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux‑cored arc welding.Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other hand‑held tools.Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.Mentor apprentices and junior welders by sharing knowledge and protected work practices.Work Location: Hamilton FacilityPosition RequirementsMinimum 3 years of welding structural steel experience.Completion of a three‑year apprenticeship program in metal fabrication or welding is an asset.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial.Ability to operate overhead cranes.Ability to weld with flux‑core and metal‑core (FCAW/MCAW).Knowledge of health and safety procedures.A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.Organization skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities.Communication skills—both written and oral.Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.Analytical and problem‑solving skills.Compensation PackageWage: $22.00–$33.00 per hourVacationPaid sick and bereavement leavesFlexible extended health and dental care packagesEmployee Assistance ProgramRRSP matchingProfit sharingEmployee family scholarship programTuition support (apprentice, continued education)Values in Action (ViA)—participating in charity events coordinated by employees and team bonding activitiesWalters Group is committed to providing accommodations throughout the interview and employment process.
