Loss Prevention Specialist — Full TimeLocation:Toronto, ONOverviewThe Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store(s). The APS will drive the execution of the Company’s internal and external theft and fraud strategy and use tools to minimize loss, while demonstrating integrity and supporting associates and store objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild relationships with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM (Market Asset Protection Manager) regarding internal and external investigations and physical security within the store.Maintain open communication with store management and associates; partner with managementto drive AP issues and promote a shrink-elimination culture.Participate in the In Focus program.ComplianceDetain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures.Drive store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies; ensure environmental compliance.Check physical security to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activity.Write reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries; preserve evidenceand interact with law enforcement.Represent The Home Depot professionally in all court-related procedures.Build Skills and KnowledgeMeet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirements.Create associate awareness for shrink issues and physical security; support the AP Team Plan.Utilize CCTV, exception reports, and audit EAS systems; conduct surveillance when required.Set objectives, communicate expectations,



and demonstrate urgency on priorities.Take ownership of initiatives and use financial indicators/metrics to measure performance.Decision Making and Doing the Right ThingUse sound judgment and respond to internal customers with high responsiveness.Adhere to The Home Depot values and maintain cross-functional partnerships to share information.Follow safety and environmental health policies as outlined by The Home Depot Canada.CompetenciesAction Oriented; Communicates Effectively; Customer Focus; Drives ResultsQualifications1+ year of experience in retail-related loss prevention or equivalent preferred.High School Diploma or GED; any certifications related to Asset Protection (guard/private investigator license where applicable).Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.Must have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel within the market area; bilingual (French/English) is an asset.Physical & Working ConditionsMay involve bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, standing, and walking; working in a warehouse setting that can be dusty and noisy.Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.TravelSome travel required.Pay Range:$22.00 – $24.00AI in HiringIn our commitment to efficiency and a fair hiring experience, Home Depot Canada uses AI technology to assist with screening and assessment.
