We are looking for an experienced

Elementary Musical Theatre Director

to join our Wentworth Campus. This role supports with directing and staging the annual Grade 6/7 musical production, culminating in performances in May 2027. The successful candidate will lead the musical team, and foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment where students can develop their acting skills, stage presence, and confidence. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life including extra-curricular responsibilities.

Temporary Contract Part-Time

position, from early - mid October 2026 to May 12, 2027.

Schedule & Hours:

October 5, 2026 to December 18, 2026: 1 day per week (casting and rehearsals)

January 11, 2027 to March 2027: 2 days per week (rehearsals and staging)

April 2027 to May 12, 2027: 2 to 3 days per week (technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and show dates)

Exact schedule and rehearsal times to be finalized upon hire.

Responsibilities

Direct, block, and stage the Grade 6 and 7 spring musical production.

Plan and conduct engaging, structured, and age-appropriate drama rehearsals.

Collaborate with music director, choreographer, set designers, costume designers, stage crew, lighting/sound technicians, and parent volunteers.

Manage student auditions, casting, and character development workshops.

Maintain a positive, safe, and encouraging space that promotes teamwork, creativity, and self-expression.





Supervise students during rehearsals and backstage during production week.

Required qualifications

Post-secondary education in Drama, Theatre, Education, or a related discipline is preferred.

BC Teaching Certification.

Basic First Aid.

Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred qualifications and experiences

Demonstrated experience teaching drama, theatre, or performing arts to middle school children (Grades 6–7).

Background in directing musical theatre or youth theatrical productions.

Solid classroom management and organizational skills.
