Tarion ensures consumer protection by providing free tools, guides and resources to help homeowners understand their builder's warranty and navigate warranty claims with confidence.If a builder does not meet their warranty commitments, Tarion offers guidance to help homeowners ensure they receive the coverage they're entitled to, and when necessary, steps in to help resolve warranty claims.About the RoleThe Tarion Finance team is responsible for financial reporting and control, tax and compliance, strategic planning and financial Planning & analysis, Treasury and working capital management, and capital budgeting.The primary purpose of this role is to perform financial analysis and reporting as well as participate in project related work. Areas include financial reporting, budget and forecast, financial projects,



system implementation, process improvement, research and analysis on new and emerging issues, and subject matter expert on tax related matters and financial accounting standards.This position follows a hybrid working policy, requiring two (2) days per week in our office and three (3) days working remotely. In order to assist with onboarding and workplace introductions, recent hires will be required to work four (4) days in office per week during their first three (3) months of service. (All remote work must be completed from your home office within the province of Ontario.)ResponsibilitiesPrepare and conduct thorough financial analysis (i.E. variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial performance metrics) to identify key insights and drivers impacting the company's financial results.Be the subject matter expert and conduct research and implementation of new accounting standards, tax, and pension fund reporting matters to maintain compliance.Participate in financial projects to help provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives.Support the annual budget and forecast process, as required.Support the monthly and year-end financial reporting process including the review of reconciliations and assistance with the interim and year-end financial statement audit and actuarial valuation.Responsible for the review and updating of finance related policies to ensure current best practices.Provide ad-hoc research and analysis to drive informed decision-making for senior management.Complete other ad-hoc job-related duties as assigned.QualificationsCPA designation required5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis and reportingSolid knowledge of financial accounting terms and conceptsA quick learner with strong problem-solving skillsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is requiredExcellent analytical and strategic thinker with good written and oral communication skillsAbility to balance multiple assignments, both immediate and strategic, at the same timeKnowledge of IFRS 17 is an assetExperience with sophisticated ERP system with multiple integrations is an assetAbility to provide an creative perspective to current practicesPrevious experience Financial Services or Insurance industry experience is an assetProven ability to embrace change and adapt to new technologyWhy Choose Tarion?We believe that Tarion's employees are its most valuable asset.
