Overview The Activation Coordinator is part of a interprofessional team providing care on a 43 bed inpatient mental health unit. .

The Activation

Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating a meaningful program to support and meet the needs of a diverse population. With the foundational principles of SafeWards and in collaboration with the team, the activation coordinator uses the values of respect, personhood and compassion to develop and deliver activities to both groups and individuals in an acute, mental health setting. This role will deliver programming primarily in group settings.

This role may support other areas within the Mental Health and Substance Use Program based on operational needs.

Education

- Certificate or Diploma in therapeutic recreation/activation or equivalent experience required
- Undergraduate degree in Health Studies or therapeutic recreation is a strong asset
- Additional certification or training in Mental Health an asset
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certificate considered a strong asset
- Current BLS required

Qualifications

- 1 to 2 years of activation experience in a mental health setting required.
- Completion of SafeWards, ,GPA, U-First, or similar training an asset
- Computer literacy required
- Must display compassion, empathy and respect for patients, families andor care-partners of those living with mental illness
- Understand issues of stigma, psychosocial and socio-economic barriers and other challenges for those who experience mental illness
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required
- Good work performance and attendance record required
