SYSTRA Canada is seeking a BIM Modeller – Wet Utilities to support the development and coordination of detailed 3D models for a light rail project in Toronto. The position combines Civil 3D, BIM, civil infrastructure and geospatial data. The successful candidate will develop models for underground wet and dry utilities—including storm drainage, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, culverts, tanks and catch basins—as well as roadways, grading, surfaces, pavements, alignments, profiles, assemblies and corridors.

The modeller will work with civil, utility and roadway engineers to represent existing, staged and proposed infrastructure and will help produce coordinated models and drawings for design, construction and regulatory submissions.

Key responsibilities include

- Develop detailed Civil 3D models for underground utility networks, roads, grading, drainage, surfaces and pavement infrastructure.
- Create and manage Civil 3D data shortcuts and drawing references in multi-user environments using Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk Desktop Connector.
- Coordinate existing, staged and proposed site-servicing, grading and drainage designs with engineering teams.
- Produce plan, profile and cross-section models and sheets for design, construction and regulatory submissions.
- Configure Civil 3D object and label styles, pipe-network styles, parts lists and sheet sets to project requirements.
- Conduct interdisciplinary clash detection and coordination involving utilities, drainage, grading, pavements, foundations, subgrade conditions and electrical duct banks.

- Maintain models throughout design revisions, construction phasing and final turnover, including accurate representation of as-built conditions.
- Help develop and improve BIM workflows, including the use of automation and scripting where appropriate.
- Ensure models comply with applicable municipal, Ontario and Canadian infrastructure and transportation standards.

Qualifications Candidates should have a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics or a related discipline, along with at least five years of civil modelling experience, including a minimum of three years specifically using Civil 3D. SYSTRA requires proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Desktop Connector and Bluebeam Revu. Candidates should have experience modelling both underground utilities and road/surface infrastructure, including stormwater systems and pressure- and gravity-fed networks.

An important geospatial component of the position is the integration of GIS data, survey information and as-built drawings into coordinated BIM/CAD models.

Experience with Dynamo for Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks Manage, Python, Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads and Autodesk Inventor is considered a robust asset. Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, drainage, detention systems and flood-control requirements is also advantageous. Candidates should understand applicable Ontario and Canadian civil, roadway and utility standards, including OPSD, OTM Book 7, MOE/MTO guidelines, Transport Canada requirements and ICAO standards.
