As a Curriculum Designer within the Learning and Development unit, you will collaborate with various departments across the Calgary Police Service (CPS) to support and develop training. Your responsibilities will include conducting training needs assessments, designing and developing comprehensive curricula, and instructional materials, supporting course implementation, and evaluating both course effectiveness and instructional delivery. Primary duties include:

- Conduct a Learning Needs Analysis: Collaborate with subject matter experts and project managers to assess learning needs, define project goals, establish clear learning objectives, and determine performance metrics.




- Design, develop, and maintain engaging face-to-face, online, and blended learning solutions using adult learning principles and evidence-based instructional design methodologies.
- Align curriculum content, assessment strategies, and competency-based education frameworks with learning objectives to ensure measurable outcomes.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness by implementing and utilizing evaluation tools to assess the impact and effectiveness of training programs and learning solutions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with subject matter experts and partners internally and across policing agencies, government bodies, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations.
- Monitor trends and advancements in learning design, integrating current research and best practices into instructional strategies.

Qualifications

- A degree in Education, Adult Education or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related experience in learning and development.
- A thorough understanding of adult learning theory, curriculum design, and research-based learning is required.
- Experience using Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is considered an asset.




- Prior experience in a law enforcement setting will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in formal and informal facilitation, teaching, coaching, and mentoring is also an asset.
- Proven organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to set appropriate priorities, manage workloads and multiple projects independently and as part of a team.

Days of work: This position works a 5 day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
