Under the supervision of the department’s organizational structure, the PCP provides medical services to the citizens of Winnipeg in accordance with established and approved medical standards and protocols.ResponsibilitiesRespond to emergent and non‑emergent situations, provide emergency medical care, and transport to hospital.Provide emergency medical care following established standards and the Medical Director’s scope of practice.Participate in public education, injury prevention, and community relations activities.Precept PCP students from accredited colleges and students from rural Manitoba.Carry out vehicle, equipment, and station cleaning procedures and maintain required inventories.Participate in specialty programs such as Community Paramedicine and Tactical Emergency Medical Support.QualificationsPrimary Care Paramedic (PCP) Program Certificate (minimum) accredited by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA)



or Accreditation Canada and a valid College of Paramedics of Manitoba PCP certificate of practice.Heart and Stroke CPR Certification – Basic Life Support Level.Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Certificate (asset).Previous work experience as a Paramedic (asset).Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards, FIPPA, PHIA, and confidentiality.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to provide patient care with empathy, resilience, critical decision‑making under stress, teamwork, and cultural competence.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Foreign education equivalency assessment required for those educated outside Canada.Conditions of EmploymentLegally eligible to work in Canada.Must possess a valid PCP Certificate of Practice in good standing.Valid Police Information Check and Child Abuse Registry checks (original, dated within 30 days).Valid Manitoba Class 4 driver’s licence and safety rating of -4 or better.Meet all Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service standards for vision, hearing, immunization, chest X‑ray, and physical fitness.Pass required written and practical examinations.Work schedule: full‑time 84 hours biweekly (rotating 12‑hour shifts) or part‑time with a minimum of 24 shifts.BenefitsCompetitive salaries, employer‑paid advantages including dental and vision care, a pension plan, maternity and parental leave programs, and opportunities for education, training, and staff development.EEO StatementThe City of Winnipeg is committed to a diverse, inclusive workforce.
