SCOPE/POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Food Services Supervisor to join our team. Under the general supervision of the Director of Food Services, the Food Services Supervisor assists with the day-to-day administration and supervision of the Food Services Department, including all food production, in accordance with the standards set forward by recognized regulatory bodies and Jewish Dietary law. You will also play a key role in supervising and supporting our food service staff to deliver exceptional meals to our residents.

This is a full-time, temporary, six-month position with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises the preparation, processing, and serving of meals in accordance with all applicable Ministry of Long-Term Care regulations, public health requirements Jewish Dietary Laws.
- Ensures sufficient staffing coverage of the department.
- Ensures staff compliance with facility and service policies, procedures and standards through observation and verification.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment which includes all facets of preventative maintenance.
- Assists in the preparation and service of meals as required.
- Oversees the purchase of food and related supplies for Food Services as required.
- Participates in Minimum Data Set Assessment Instrument (RAI/MDS) practice requirements as directed.
- Provides continuous supervision of personnel in the conduct of their duties.
- Ensures the health and safety of residents, staff, volunteers and visitors by ensuring that Food Service staff carry out safe practices and proper procedures.
- Ensures that the standards set for the service by the Ministry and other regulatory bodies are met.
- Completes designated quality improvement activities and all related duties required by the department and as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement Program of the Home.
- Completes required core competency education and in-service training as mandated by legislation.
- Performs any duties as required that are necessary for the welfare of the residents and efficient operation of the Home.





SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Completion of a post-secondary program in Food Service and Nutrition Management.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM).
- Food Handler Certificate required.
- At least one year of experience supervising food service operations in a large facility, preferably in a long-term care setting.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of residents and the Home.
- Knowledge of Jewish dietary laws (Kashrut), Jewish holidays and observances, and traditional Jewish cuisine is considered an asset.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours weekly

10:30 am – 6:30 pm Monday to Friday with a possibility of occasional evenings and weekends.

Physical & Mental Demands:

- Ability to lead and supervise staff, enforce policies, and make critical decisions.
- Problem-solving skills to handle unforeseen challenges in food service operations.
- Multi-tasking abilities to manage daily operations and administrative responsibilities.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, walk, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

With a current complement of 121 beds and housed within a thriving 13-acre Jewish Community Campus, we provide a wide range of programming and events to meet the diverse needs of our residents, their families, and the larger community which we serve.
