Role: z/OS Mainframe System Programmer

Location: Brampton, ON

Duration: 6+ Months

BGV will be done for the selected candidates.

Qualification
Minimum 10 to 20 Years of Experience.

Scope of Work
The scope of effort includes all items identified below. The candidate needs to have a Good-level working knowledge of the z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer and tools identified within.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Drive architecture roadmap, reference architecture and standard efforts. Provide leadership in all technical aspects of assigned projects, programs and portfolios.

Architect complex end-to-end solutions across distributed, host and business intelligence environments.

Functional experience is required with the following technologies:

Z/OS Mainframe System Programmer who can install, troubleshoot, and maintain their mainframe system. The ideal candidate who is comfortable with the following:

Responsibilities

Installs, upgrades and customizes ISV software tools in a multi-system z/OS mainframe environment.

Primary Role – very Good Skills in installing and customizing the following products:

BMC Suite of Products

IBM Program Products

IBM WebSphere MQ for z/OS

SAS MXG

Omegamon Suite of products and Boxscore

Automation SA/390 support and CA OPSMVS

Provides usage support for Applications Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations and IT Production Support and user community.





Required to be on call 24x7 on a rotating basis for problem resolution and high systems availability.

Use IBM and ISV online tools for opening and managing problem report tracking and resolution.

Actively participates in periodic DR exercises; maintains DR readiness of systems.

Monitors status of systems to proactively prevent issues from occurring.

Works to accomplish organizational goals that are consistent in supporting both IT and Business objectives.

Performance and capacity planning.

Job Requirements
Operating Systems experience should include: JCL, JES2, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, SDSF, DFSORT, TSO, ISPF/PDF.

The following software experience will be a definite plus: REXX, COBOL, CA Technologies CA-DELIVER / CA-VIEW / SYSVIEW / EASY-TRIEVE/ CA1/CA7, EOS,Folders. Skills in other ISV Products as well.

Intermediate skills in UNIX/Linux and Windows, z/VM a plus.

Ability to work independently and apply documented problem solving techniques.

Ability to build positive working relationships and influence collaboratively across IT teams.

Very valuable written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Communicates critical information to management, Service Desk and Operations as necessary.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility.
