We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Labourer to join our team at our scrap metal recycling facility.

This is a hands-on, physically active position involving sorting, processing, handling, and moving various scrap metals and batteries. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors, and experienced operating a forklift in a busy yard or industrial workplace.

Previous forklift operating experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

- Sort and separate various types and grades of scrap metal
- Process and prepare metal for recycling
- Assist customers with unloading scrap metal and other materials from their vehicles
- Sort, handle, and stack automotive and industrial batteries onto pallets
- Wrap and prepare battery skids for storage and shipment
- Safely operate a forklift to move, load, unload, and organize materials
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, bins, and customer vehicles
- Move and organize materials throughout the yard
- Keep work areas and the yard clean and organized
- Identify and separate materials according to company procedures
- Safely use hand tools and other yard equipment as required
- Assist other yard staff with day-to-day operations as needed

Qualifications

- Previous forklift operating experience is required




- Experience working in a scrap yard, recycling facility, warehouse, construction, or similar industrial environment is an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day
- Comfortable lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving heavy materials
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to work at the start of each shift
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

This position involves regular lifting, bending, standing, walking, and handling of heavy materials. Applicants must be comfortable working in a physically demanding, active industrial yard environment.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
