Job Overview

My Butopia Salon is seeking an experienced, versatile and client-focused hairstylist to join our team.

We are looking for a stylist who is confident in their craft and experienced working with a diverse clientele, with particular expertise in caring for and styling curly, coily and textured hair.

My Butopia Salon is an established, professionally equipped home-based salon in Ajax, with a dedicated salon workspace separate from the home’s primary living areas.

The salon has an established clientele and consistent client demand, and we are looking for an additional stylist to help accommodate current appointment needs. This is a commission-based opportunity with existing salon clients available to service. Stylists are also welcome to bring and continue servicing their existing clientele.

Responsibilities

- Provide professional hairstyling services based on each client’s individual hair needs and desired results Consult with clients and recommend appropriate styles, treatments and haircare services Provide shampooing and conditioning, blow-drying, roller sets, silk presses and flat-iron styling Work confidently with natural curly and coily hair, as well as chemically treated hair Perform relaxers and chemical texture services, hair colouring, cutting and shaping, as appropriate to your experience Provide deep-conditioning, strengthening and hair-repair treatments Perform weaves, extensions and protective styling, where applicable Maintain the health and integrity of natural and chemically treated hair Maintain a clean, organized and professional workspace and follow appropriate sanitation practices Provide a welcoming and professional experience for every client





Qualifications
- Professional hairstyling experience Demonstrated experience working with a variety of hair textures, particularly curly, coily and textured hair Confidence working independently and managing client services from consultation through finished style Strong knowledge of healthy haircare practices Professional, reliable and punctual Strong communication and client-service skills Attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work Portfolio, photos of previous work or qualified social media page preferred Must meet applicable Ontario requirements to legally practise the hairstylist trade, or be a properly registered apprentice
