The Undergraduate
Admissions unit is dedicated to an inclusive and accessible approach to admission, involving the processing and evaluation of student applications according to current admission standards and best practices on a global scale. We seek to be student-centred in our policies and procedures to meet a diverse applicant community and are proactive and responsive in our effort to support enrolment management at the institutional level.
About the Role The Manager, Undergraduate Admissions, manages, evaluates and directs the operational leadership for undergraduate application processing, admission evaluation, curriculum assessment, transfer credit assessment and Faculty-specific admission processes. The role oversees the efficient and timely processing of applications and supporting documents for domestic and international applicants from secondary and post-secondary institutions worldwide, including Indigenous, high school, post-secondary transfer, mature, diverse qualification, supplemental application, athletics and scholarship applicants.
The role develops, implements, maintains and evaluates the business processes and systems supporting the assessment of applications and collection of admission documents across three admission terms annually, in accordance with Senate policies and institutional requirements.
In collaboration with Senior Leadership, the Manager establishes strategic and operational priorities for the admissions unit based on SFU's Strategic Enrolment Plan, institutional objectives, data analysis, application volumes, historical trends and emerging enrolment needs. The role leads continuous improvement initiatives and evaluates and recommends policy, process and system enhancements related to staff training, quality assurance, application workflows, operational efficiency and the applicant experience. The Manager also works closely with Faculties and external organizations, including the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer, to coordinate, interpret and refine complex admission and transfer credit policies, processes and services.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic leader with robust expertise in admissions operations, enrolment management and student service delivery. They possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment and the ability to manage complex and sensitive admissions issues with diplomacy and discretion. Success in this role requires strong people leadership, including mentoring, coaching and developing staff, as well as the ability to build effective partnerships across faculties and external organizations.
