About the Role
Verathon® is looking for a Mechanical Engineer E1 to become the newest member of our Visualization R&D; Team located in Burnaby, British Columbia. The Mechanical Engineer E1 is responsible for interacting with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility
- Develop and test new manufacturing processes
- Specify and manage tool development
- Assist in creation and release of product requirements, design specifications and design descriptions for assigned projects, as required by applicable medical device standards and internal procedures
- Follow all policies, procedures, and standards for engineering documentation to ensure compliance with corporate document management policy
- Review product documentation for accuracy including documentation intended for customer use
- Assist senior engineers in designing, prototyping, testing and qualification of mechanical designs for high-reliability and high-performance medical devices
- Support production activities and resolve issues quickly
- Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications
- Support the development of intellectual property
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; Masters or PhD preferred
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use SolidWorks and SolidWorks add-ins
- Experience in design, prototyping, testing and qualification an asset
- Knowledge, interest, or experience in a medical device preferred
- Experience in technical team-focused workplace
- Use sound engineering principles and techniques to help senior engineers
- Ability to write concisely and accurately with meticulous attention to detail and clarity
- EIT status preferred or eligible to register
- Experience in design, prototyping, testing and qualification an asset
- Knowledge, interest, or experience in a medical device preferred

- Salary range - $71,708 - $82,670 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).
- Full time employees who are not on a commission plan are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
