ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Membership Clerk provides administrative, records management, and customer service support for the Nation's membership and Indian registration programs. Acting as the first point of contact for membership and registration inquiries, the Membership Clerk assists members by providing accurate information, processing applications and supporting documentation, maintaining confidential membership records, and supporting registration processes in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, and procedures.
This position also provides administrative support for community assistance services, including assisting members with requests related to funeral and bereavement supports, sports and recreation assistance, and other community support programs.
Additional responsibilities include supporting membership-related meetings, governance activities, and community engagement. The position contributes to the effective delivery of membership services by maintaining accurate and confidential information and fostering respectful relationships with members.
WHAT YOU BRING
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in records management, administrations, or membership services.
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Experience working with confidential information
- Two years experience providing administrative support
- Knowledge of First Nation governance, membership processes and Indigenous organization.
Skills & Abilities
- Positive computer skills such as MS Office Suite and/or Google™ Workspace products.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with others.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work will all members of the community.
- Compliance with BC Immunization program and TB Screening.
- Satisfactory completion of a police information check
- Ability to provide own transportation to work.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and Drivers Abstract.
Optional/Assets
- Certificate or diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration, Indigenous Governance, or a related field is an asset.
- Ability to speak Dene and/or Cree.
WORK SETTING The regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 35 hours per week. Interacts with employees, management staff, community members, service providers, funders, contractors. Flexible schedules will be required to accommodate occasional evening and weekend related meetings, including voting meetings.
