Role Description As a Mortgage Underwriter at MortgageSolver, you will be responsible for evaluating mortgage applications, assessing creditworthiness, and determining loan eligibility in line with company policies and regulatory requirements. On a day-to-day basis, you will review financial documents, verify income and assets, analyze credit reports, and assess property and collateral information to ensure sound lending decisions. You will collaborate with loan officers and other team members to clarify documentation, resolve application issues, and maintain a smooth underwriting workflow.
This is a full-time remote role,
requiring consistent communication via digital tools and adherence to performance and turnaround-time standards while working independently.
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgages, including loan products, regulations, and lending practices.
- Proficiency in Mortgage Underwriting and Underwriting, with experience evaluating risk and making sound lending decisions.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills for reviewing financial data, credit profiles, and documentation to identify trends and potential concerns.
- Experience with mortgage origination and underwriting software, and comfort working with digital document management systems.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal stakeholders and explaining decisions to non-experts.
- Understanding of relevant compliance standards and guidelines (e.g., federal and state lending regulations, fair lending practices).
- Prior experience as a mortgage underwriter or in a similar lending role; a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
