Hays is partnered with an award-winning Calgary-based land developer and residential home builder. They have been creating cutting-edge and successful communities across the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area for decades. At the present time they are positioned for their next growth phase with a multi-year land base, strong financial resources, and an exceptional management team, with that they are looking to hire a forward-thinking Design & Drafting Manager to lead and mentor their production and design teams.

? Location: Calgary, AB | In Office | Full Time – Permanent

Responsibilities:

- Lead, mentor, and manage the Design Department, ensuring workloads, priorities, and project timelines are effectively delivered.
- Oversee the production of residential design documentation, including working drawings, permit packages, and architectural control submissions.
- Ensure all drawings and deliverables comply with applicable building codes, municipal bylaws, developer guidelines, and company standards.
- Provide technical leadership and resolve complex design, permitting, grading, and code compliance issues.
- Manage the design and approval process for both single-family and multi-family residential projects.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external consultants to support product development, construction, sales,



and operational objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of new home models, showhomes, product offerings, and design enhancements.
- Monitor project progress, departmental KPIs, and home start targets, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are achieved.
- Establish, maintain, and improve design processes, quality control standards, and document management systems.
- Conduct performance reviews, coach team members, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

- Diploma in Architectural Technology or a related fiend.
- You will possess a minimum of 10 years in architectural design, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience working with a production home builder is a strong asset.
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and inspire a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Must possess sound knowledge of local buildings codes and bylaws.

The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package $110,000 - $130,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus, benefits including health + dental, RRSP and 4 weeks’ vacation with 4 flex days and the week off over Christmas.
