Join Black & Veatch in shaping the future of energy as a Substation Automation Engineer. Engage in creative projects in Markham or Calgary that focus on modernizing electrical grids.

In this full-time role, you will design secure and scalable automation architectures and serve as a subject-matter expert in IEC61850 technologies. You’ll collaborate with utilities and industry partners to help develop future standards in protection, automation, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop SCL artifacts and validate messaging protocols
• Design network architectures for high-performance substations
• Optimize time-sensitive applications for protection systems
• Integrate IEDs with SCADA and HMI systems
• Incorporate cybersecurity principles into system design

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• At least 5 years relevant work experience
• Knowledge of IEC61850 and cybersecurity practices
• Experience with virtualized application deployment
• PE License is preferred
