Job Purpose
The Painter prepares and paints composite parts to specification, working alongside the Paint Lead and the rest of the paint department. This role owns the hands-on prep, priming, painting, and clearcoating work on assigned parts, following the direction and quality standards set by the Paint Lead, and delivers consistent, defect-free finishes on time.

Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.

Paint Preparation

Prepare parts for painting,



including surface preparation, masking, cleaning, and viscosity checks

Confirm prep work meets part drawing specifications and engineering documentation before painting begins

Keep prep materials, tools, and consumables stocked, organized, and in proper condition

Paint Application

Apply primer, paint, and clearcoat to composite parts using spray gun equipment, in accordance with part drawing specifications and engineering documentation

Complete curing of parts using appropriate baking procedures

Identify and flag process issues, paint defects, or equipment problems to the Paint Lead

Complete assigned work orders accurately and on time

Equipment and Housekeeping

Support start-of-shift and end-of-shift inspections of the spray booth, spray guns, ventilation systems, and related equipment

Clean machines, equipment, and work areas regularly using water, solvents, and other appropriate cleaning aids

Maintain assigned PPE and report equipment issues to the Paint Lead promptly

Quality and Safety

Follow the quality standards set by the Paint Lead at every stage of the paint process

Flag and set aside parts that do not meet required standards rather than moving them forward

Follow ISO 9001 and AS9100 procedures accordingly





Use correct PPE at all times in the paint booth and on the shop floor

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience

High school diploma or GED

1 to 3 years of experience using spray painting equipment, mixing paint, clear coating, and cleaning lines

Experience painting composites (carbon fiber/fiberglass) considered an asset

Detail-oriented with a high standard for quality at every stage of the process

Comfortable working under the direction of a Paint Lead in a team setting

Awareness of and commitment to product safety, counterfeit parts prevention, ethical conduct, and personal contribution to product quality and safety in accordance with AS9100 Rev D

Continuing education supported by PCI upon approval

Working Conditions
Other conditions include:

Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts, on occasion, based on demanding manufacturing schedules

Stand for long periods of time. Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repeat the same movements. Bend or twist the body. Climb ladders, kneel, stoop, or crouch for long periods of time

Work in a dirty, dusty environment (PPE provided)

PCI manufactures products that may act as an irritant and trigger allergic reactions or asthmatic symptoms in susceptible workers

Physical Requirements
Painters must have the following abilities:

Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

Work with spray painting equipment and shop tools

Use hands throughout the paint preparation and application process
