The Peer Support Specialist position is a key role in the Women's Initiatives Program at CCSYR. Your work will focus on providing emotional support, mentorship, and guidance informed by shared experiences. You will help build community resilience and reduce isolation for visible minority women and newcomers as part of a trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one peer support and mentorship
• Facilitate peer-led support groups with program staff
• Assist participants with community resources and referrals
• Promote stigma reduction through outreach and education
• Document participant interactions and group activities
Requirements:
• Empathy and respect in engagements
• Effective communication and listening skills
• Experience with diverse and marginalized populations
• Commitment to equity and survivor empowerment
• Previous peer support experience in social services
