Client: Government of Alberta – Technology & Innovation
Location: Edmonton, AB / Primarily Remote within Canada
Work Arrangement: Remote; up to 15% onsite in Edmonton as required
Contract: Up to 12-month extension term
Hours: 7.25 hours/day, 36.25 hours/week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–4:30 PM Alberta Time

Project Overview
The Province is seeking a Project Manager to provide delivery oversight and coordination across multiple concurrent, high-priority initiatives, including:
- Cybersecurity Vulnerability Mitigation / Legacy Server Remediation
- SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008/2012 remediation
- Windows Server 2016 remediation
- Risk mitigation, governance and cross-project coordination
- SharePoint Online Migration
- Remaining SharePoint 2016 migrations and decommissioning
- Delivery of 5 outstanding intranets
- Extranet migration and legacy server replacement
- Management of dependencies and access
- Transition of 22 Power Apps replacing SharePoint 2016 customizations to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IT projects from initiation through completion
- Develop project charters, business cases, project plans, schedules and status reports
- Manage scope, timelines, resources, budgets, risks, issues and dependencies
- Coordinate multiple projects and project teams concurrently
- Manage vendors, stakeholders, sponsors and cross-departmental partners
- Develop governance materials and executive/steering committee reports
- Track milestones, deliverables, budget and project performance
- Identify and escalate risks/issues and implement corrective actions
- Support requirements documentation and IT solution delivery
- Coordinate project dependencies and interdependencies
- Support change management and communication activities
- Provide project leadership, stakeholder communication and client relationship management
- Support transition planning and post-project outcome assessment
- Leverage Microsoft applications, collaboration tools and AI to improve reporting and communication.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
- 5+ years developing project deliverables such as project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, project closures and dashboards
- 5+ years in a Project Management role
- 4+ years managing multiple projects concurrently
- 3+ years successfully implementing IT solutions involving resources across multiple teams/organizations
- 3+ years as Project Manager on large, complex, custom software development projects
- 3+ years working with Information Management and Cybersecurity policies, directives and guidelines
- Active PMP or PGMP certification issued by PMI or equivalent.
Education
One of the following
- University graduation in Business, Management or related discipline + 4 years PM experience, OR
- 2-year diploma in Business, Management or related discipline + 6 years PM experience, OR
- 1-year certificate in Business, Management or related discipline + 7 years PM experience, OR
- 8 years of Project Management experience.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- 3+ years coordinating project dependencies and plans
- 4+ years coordinating government/vendor-wide IM/IT initiatives
- 5+ years leading meetings with stakeholders at all levels
- 3+ years leading change management and communication planning
- 3+ years overseeing server and network infrastructure projects
- 3+ years overseeing SharePoint migrations
- 3+ years working with Government of Alberta or a Canadian public-sector organization of similar size and complexity.
Other Requirements
- Conflict-of-interest attestation required
- Criminal record check required at no cost to the Province
- Three skilled references must be provided
- Mandatory training may include POPA, ATIA, Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management and Respect in the Workplace.
