Position: Senior Director, Software Engineering / AI Engineering
Location: Toronto, Hybrid
Salary: $285-325K+
We're partnering with a leading global financial services organization that is making a significant investment in its Toronto technology hub. We're looking for senior engineering leaders for two high-impact leadership opportunities spanning enterprise platform modernization and next-generation AI innovation. These roles are ideal for leaders who are still deeply technical and have built, scaled and led strong engineering organizations.
The Opportunities Depending on your background, you could lead one of two mandates:
Enterprise Platform Modernization Lead 4 full-stack engineering teams with 20+ engineers
Modernize and transform critical, large-scale production platforms
Balance legacy modernization with greenfield engineering
Drive adoption of modern cloud, engineering and AI capabilities
Lead across Java/Python, React and AWS/Azure environments
AI & Engineering Innovation Lead multidisciplinary Software Engineering and ML Engineering teams
Build next-generation AI-enabled products and platforms from the ground up
Take AI/ML ideas and POCs through to scalable, production-grade systems
Help shape engineering standards, architecture and technical direction




Play a key role in building Toronto into a major AI innovation hub
What We're Looking For We're interested in senior engineering leaders who bring:
Significant experience leading multiple Software Engineering and/or ML Engineering teams
A solid hands-on technical foundation - you understand the technology, not just the delivery
Experience building and operating complex, production-grade systems at scale
Strong modern engineering and cloud experience
Experience with Java and/or Python; React is highly valuable
For the AI-focused mandate, meaningful experience delivering AI/ML capabilities into production
A track record of attracting, developing and leading high-performing engineers
The ability to operate across engineering, product, architecture and senior business stakeholders
We're particularly interested in hands-on leaders coming from high-scale technology, fintech, financial services or other complex engineering environments .
