Working within the Public Works department and reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, this position will apply the standard knowledge, skills and practices of the trade in diagnosing breakdowns and performing all maintenance, service and repair work on all types of municipal transport vehicles, construction equipment, industrial tractors and equipment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are required.

Posting Closes: September 28, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
Schedule: 40 hours/week (8 hours/day) – Approximately working from October 2026 to April 2027.
Ideal Candidate Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate.
Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate.
Minimum five (5) years mechanical experience with a minimum of two (2) years heavy duty.
Experience repairing and overhauling a variety of light and heavy duty equipment, including snow plow/sanding trucks.
Welding experience would be an asset.
Second and third-year apprentices will be considered.



Compensation will be set at 75% of the journeyperson rate for second-year apprentices and 90% of the journeyperson rate for third-year apprentices.
Requirements This position will be based at the County Services Building - 2700 48 St, Stony Plain, AB and will be required to work at various locations throughout the County.
Valid Alberta Class 3 Operators License with Q (air) endorsement. A satisfactory current commercial driver’s abstract is required to be provided upon hire.
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Rate of Pay: $45.40 per hour
This position is within scope of the current collective agreement between Parkland County and The International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 955.
