Our client is an established ICI construction management firm committed to maintaining safe, compliant, and well‑managed project environments. With safety embedded across its office and field operations, the company is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Jr. Health & Safety Coordinator to support its ongoing growth.
Your new roleAs the Jr. Health & Safety Coordinator, you will work closely withpany leadership, project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and employees to promote a strong and consistent safety culture.You will support the implementation and continuous improvement of thepany’s Health & Safety Management System, maintain policies and project documentation, conduct workplace inspections and site audits, and provide practical guidance on secure work practices. You will also monitor changes to health and safety legislation and help ensurepliance acrosspany operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting construction site inspections, workplace assessments, and safety audits
Identifying hazards and rmending appropriate corrective actions
Maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, manuals, safe work practices, and job hazard analyses
Supporting project kick-off meetings and site‑specific safety planning
Reviewing subcontractor safety documentation andpliance requirements
Preparing and maintaining project safety records, inspection reports, orientations, hazard assessments, and first aid documentation
Coordinating Joint Health & Safetymittee meetings, preparing minutes, and tracking action items
Developing toolbox talks and other safety awareness initiatives
Monitoring PPEpliance and supporting the management of safety equipment and supplies
Maintaining emergency response plans for project and office locations
You will act as a key point of contact for incidents, injuries, near misses, and other health and safety concerns. This will includepleting incident reports, supporting investigations, identifying root causes, tracking corrective actions, and liaising with regulatory agencies or external stakeholders when required. You may also support WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, and modified work arrangements.
What you’ll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you will have:
A diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Human Resources, or a related discipline
One to three years of dedicated health and safety experience, preferably within the construction industry
Experience conducting site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations
Working knowledge of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations
Strongmunication, organization, documentation, and relationship-building skills
The ability to work effectively with field employees, subcontractors, supervisors, project managers, and senior leadership
