Company Description
The Nova Scotia Health (NSH) Department of Radiation Oncology is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Radiation Oncologist position (for its Cape Breton Cancer Centre-CBCC site in Sydney, Nova Scotia) starting Fall 2026. The successful applicant will join 4 other Radiation Oncologists on site.

Job Description
With centres in both Halifax and Sydney, the NSH Department of Radiation Oncology serves patients in the entire province of Nova Scotia (NS), with over 3,000 radiation treatment courses delivered each year. Each radical treatment is peer reviewed in a collaborative and collegial way using centralized departmental guidelines.

Delivering techniques such as VMAT, IGRT, SRS/SRT, and SBRT, the modern equipment inventory of the province includes ten treatment units, two of which are located in the CBCC site. There is an active HDR brachytherapy program for prostate and gynecological cancers in Halifax.



Nova Scotians received care on the first-in-the-world Ethos radiotherapy system with HyperSight imaging in January 2024 and the centres are actively replacing older radiotherapy units with additional state of the art technology.

With the anticipated opening of a new Cape Breton Cancer Centre in 2027, the exciting redevelopment initiative brings opportunity to provide more comfort and support for patients and families, as well as increased opportunity for research, innovation, and expansion of clinical programs.

We are an integral part of the academic Dalhousie University Department of Radiation Oncology which has four clinical sites across the three Maritime Provinces including 31 Radiation Oncologists, 19 Medical Physicists, 3 Radiation Therapists and 1 Dosimetrist. We administer and deliver a residency training program in Radiation Oncology which is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure in NS. Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada would be an asset.
