Salary: $86,500 to $91,000 annually

Nature and Scope

The Centre Manager is responsible for the development, launch, and ongoing operations of the Chilliwack Landing & Cheam Leisure Centres. This role provides leadership to operational and program teams to achieve the YMCA’s strategic, operational, and service delivery objectives. The position coordinates and oversees a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, community members, contractors, and association partners, to ensure effective and integrated program delivery. The Centre Manager ensures the centres are strategically positioned to deliver high-quality programs and services aligned with YMCA BC’s mission, values, strategic plan, and established budget and performance targets.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and management of the Chilliwack Landing & Cheam Leisure Centres , including planning, organizing, budgeting, staff development, coaching, and health and safety oversight.
Lead and support staff and volunteers to foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence, and outcomes-focused program delivery.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality YMCA programs and services aligned with the YMCA’s mission, vision, strategic plan, and the Operational Management Agreements
Develop and manage annual operational plans for program areas in alignment with Association strategic priorities.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee staff and program schedules to ensure effective service delivery across all program areas.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders to support community health outcomes and recreation needs.
Monitor and maintain high service standards, ensuring strong satisfaction ratings throughout the centre.
Ensure compliance with all provincial, regional, and national YMCA initiatives, standards, and best practices.
Coach, mentor, and build effective working relationships with staff and volunteers to support engagement, performance, and retention.
Ensure adherence to YMCA BC policies and compliance with applicable legislation, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and WorkSafe requirements.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for staff, volunteers, members, participants, and visitors.
Meet all internal and external reporting requirements, including operational, financial, and performance reporting.
Lead and role model the YMCA's commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism
Travelling between locations required
Qualifications - you bring :
Minimum of 4-6 years of leadership experience in management roles, involving responsibility for planning, operations and financial management
Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse membership, staff, volunteers, community, stakeholders and partners
Excellent written communication and public speaking skills
Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultures and backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity
Proven leadership of dedicated, high-performance teams
Post-secondary academic credentials and an ongoing commitment to professional development
Expertise in a YMCA BC subject matter area is an asset (fitness, member experience or child, youth and family)
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
