SR. ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Thunderbird Show Park | Langley, BC
Be part of a place where business, sport and unforgettable experiences come together.
Thunderbird Show Park is a dynamic, event-driven destination where world-class equestrian sport, hospitality and community come together. We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager who enjoys being at the centre of a busy operation and takes pride in keeping the financial side of the business accurate, organized and running smoothly.

Reporting to the Group CFO Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) , and the CEO , the Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting and finance processes , while managing and mentoring a small accounting team. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly organized accounting professional who enjoys variety, takes ownership, communicates exceptionally well and can remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, while making a significant impact within the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring transactions, reconciliations and financial records are accurate and timely.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, deposits, reconciliations and general ledger activities.
Support year-end processes and provide accurate financial information to the CAO and senior leadership.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and financial reporting.
Monitor financial controls, processes and procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Manage, coach and mentor a small accounting team, establishing clear priorities and supporting professional development.

Work collaboratively with operations, events, hospitality and other departments to ensure financial processes support the business.
Support payroll, expense management and other finance-related administrative processes as required.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive financial information.
Provide hands-on support during key event periods when increased financial activity requires additional attention.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an accounting professional with strong practical experience and excellent attention to detail , combined with the ability to lead a small team and communicate effectively across the organization.

Qualifications and experience:
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience , ideally including experience overseeing accounting functions.
CPA designation is preferred and considered a strong asset, but is not required.
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end processes.
Experience with budgeting, financial reporting and internal controls.
Previous experience supervising,

coaching or mentoring accounting staff.
Robust proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office; QuickBooks / Quickbooks Online experience is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organization, time-management and prioritization skills.
High level of integrity, discretion and accountability.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior leadership and operational teams.
Experience in an event-driven, hospitality, venue or multi-revenue-stream environment would be an asset.

WHO YOU ARE
You are precise without being rigid, organized without losing sight of the bigger picture, and confident enough to speak up when something doesn't look right. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes and helping others succeed.

You understand that in a busy organization, accounting doesn't always happen neatly between 9 and 5. You are adaptable, calm under pressure and willing to pitch in when the business needs you.

THE THUNDERBIRD ENVIRONMENT
This is not a routine 9-to-5 accounting environment . Thunderbird Show Park is alive with activity, particularly during major events. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an energetic, experience-focused organization where priorities can shift quickly and where the finance team plays an important role in supporting successful events.

Occasional flexibility to be on hand during event weekends is required , particularly during major competitions and high-volume periods.
