Position Summary Reporting to the Foreman or designate, the Operator performs a variety of tasks related to the operation of heavy construction and maintenance of way equipment in the construction and maintenance of track.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties Operates heavy construction equipment to move, load or unload materials.

Operates equipment in a safe and efficient mannerin accordance withregulations,policiesand procedures.

Installs equipment or attachments on machinery or related structures.

Performs equipment safety, maintenancechecksand routine repairs.

Repairs andmaintainsequipment, making emergencyadjustments asnecessary.

Signalsdirections or warnings to coworkers.

Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

Working as part of our Track maintenance team Takesactions to avoidpotential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.

Keepsrecords of material and equipment usage and problemsencountered.

Pushesother equipment when extratractionorassistanceifrequired.

Observes conditions of track, track beds, and track right-of-way to detect, report and repair problems or defects Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of experienceoperatingheavy equipment in a construction environment.

Valid Commercial Drivers License and a clean drivers license.

Ability to understand and follow instructions; read and interpret document such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, construction specifications, and procedure manuals.

Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures.

Ability to pass pre-employment background checks including drug screening and physical assessment.





Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Works outdoors at construction sites.

Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.

Exposed to all weather conditions includingvery hotand verycold weather.

Exposed to loud noise.

Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
