Support newcomer integration as a full time School Settlement Staff member with the YMCA in Truro, Nova Scotia. Focus on empowering families from September 2026 to June 2027.

In this essential role within the School Settlement Program, the YMCA seeks individuals to assist newcomers in adjusting to their educational environment. Under the supervision of program coordinators, staff members will work collaboratively with schools and other community organizations to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all families. Your efforts will directly influence the students' educational experience and help them feel welcomed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver individual and group support for newcomers
• Forge connections with schools and community partners




• Engage in awareness-building initiatives within schools
• Use solution-focused strategies for problem-solving
• Provide information on resources available in the school system

Requirements:
• Proficient in English; additional language skills are an asset
• Experience in community work and education
• Exceptional communication and organizational abilities
• Familiarity with Nova Scotia school policies
• Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle
