Our client, a leader in automation, power and controls solutions requires an experienced Controls Engineer.
Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.) designation is required.
Position Summary The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, commissioning, and maintaining industrial automation and control systems.
This role focuses on improving the safety, efficiency, reliability, and performance of manufacturing and industrial plant operations through the effective application of automation and control technologies.
Key Responsibilities PLC Programming Develop, modify, test, and maintain Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs used to control and automate industrial machinery and processes.
Develop and troubleshoot PLC logic using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi .
Implement control strategies using ladder logic and structured text. HMI and SCADA Development Design, develop, and maintain Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens to provide operators with intuitive control and monitoring capabilities.
Develop and support Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for real-time monitoring, control, and visualization of plant processes.
Configure alarms, trends, diagnostics, and data displays to improve operational visibility.
System Integration Integrate sensors, motors, valves, drives, safety devices, and other industrial equipment into automation and control systems.
Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols, including Ethernet and Modbus .
Support the integration of control systems with plant databases and data-historization platforms using SQL .
Troubleshooting, Testing, and Commissioning Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, instrumentation, and control-system issues.
Perform loop checks, I/O verification, functional testing, and system validation.
Participate in equipment start-up, machine commissioning, and plant integration activities.
Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, efficiency, and overall equipment performance.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, control-system specifications, and related project records.
Skills and Qualifications Education Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering , or a related engineering discipline.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of PLC programming, ladder logic, and structured text .
Hands-on experience with PLC programming and system integration using Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi platforms.
Knowledge of industrial communication and networking protocols, including Ethernet and Modbus .
Working knowledge of SQL databases and industrial data historization .
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to industrial automation and control systems.
Experience with HMI, SCADA, system integration, testing, and commissioning.
Professional Certification Qualified Engineer (P.
Eng.) designation is required.
