NAWAB’S LEGENDARY BBQ

Scarborough

Nawab's Legendary BBQ is opening a new location in Scarborough and hiring a Store Manager to run it.

This is a business management role rather than a supervisory one. The Store Manager carries the restaurant's profit and loss, owns its food safety and compliance record, and leads the team that delivers both. You are given targets, the authority to hit them, and the numbers to work from. The restaurant runs alongside a single Assistant Manager, so this is a role with genuine scope and very little sitting between you and the result.

What you will be responsible for

Sales, cost of goods, labour cost and operating margin

Food safety, including the restaurant's health inspection record and its daily controls

Compliance with employment and workplace safety obligations, and with brand standards The team, including scheduling, training, supervision and development The guest experience and the restaurant's reputation in the Scarborough market

Why this role

Measured on results, not activity. You manage the restaurant's numbers directly and are judged on what they do.

Earn on performance. A bonus of up to 15 percent of base salary each year, paid quarterly against agreed targets.

Room to grow. We promote from within. If the group opens another location, the Store Manager running this restaurant well is the first person we look to for wider responsibility.

Set the standard from the start. You establish the systems and routines in a new restaurant rather than inheriting someone else's.

Start date and training, please read before applying The ideal start date is the first week of October 2026, with some flexibility to mid October.

The first four consecutive weeks of employment are full time, paid, on site training at our existing restaurant in Mississauga. These weeks are worked off site, not in Scarborough, and a travel allowance is provided. Attendance is a condition of employment. If you cannot commit to this period in full, please do not apply.

What you will do

Cost control and results

Manage food, paper and labour costs against the targets set with ownership

Review results with ownership on a regular cadence and act on variances

Place and reconcile vendor orders, and maintain par levels and receiving controls

Run weekly and period end inventory counts, and reduce waste through portion control and yield management

Complete daily cash reconciliation, deposits and end of period reporting

Food safety

Maintain temperature logs,

cooling and reheating procedures, allergen control and cross contamination prevention

Meet Ontario food premises requirements and Toronto Public Health standards, and target a green DineSafe pass at every inspection

Ensure a certified food handler is on duty at all times

Compliance and safety

Meet obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including WHMIS training, incident reporting and first aid provisions

Manage attendance and performance, and handle corrective action fairly, consistently and in writing

Maintain fire and life safety readiness, including suppression system servicing and hood cleaning intervals

Operations

Hold the restaurant to standard across the full operating cycle, including the overnight period

Maintain brand standards on every item, including recipe adherence, portioning, hold times and packaging

Manage service speed and ticket times during peak periods

Oversee equipment maintenance and service calls

Manage third party delivery platforms and large or catering orders

Team and scheduling

Produce the weekly labour schedule across all shifts, matched to forecast sales and posted in advance

Onboard and train recent team members, and maintain training records and station sign offs

Train and certify the overnight crew, and name a responsible person for each overnight shift

Set the handover routine between shifts and hold the team to it

Supervise, coach and develop the Assistant Manager and the wider team

Resolve escalated guest complaints, and monitor and respond to online reviews

What we are looking for

Five to seven years of restaurant management experience, including at least three years as a Store Manager, General Manager or equivalent with responsibility for restaurant level costs and results

Experience opening a new restaurant location, or experience supporting an opening

Experience managing a team of 10 or more across kitchen and front counter

Experience in a franchised or multi unit branded environment

Valid Ontario Food Handler Certification,

or the ability to obtain it before opening

Working knowledge of food cost, labour cost and variance analysis, and comfort working with numbers daily

Proficiency with POS, scheduling and inventory systems

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Nice to have

Experience in halal, barbecue or grill forward cuisine

Experience in a 24 hour operation, including responsibility for an unsupervised overnight shift

Catering and large order experience

Schedule

Five days a week, approximately 42.5 paid hours. Four day shifts of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and one evening shift of 3:00 pm to midnight. Saturday is a scheduled working day every week.

This is a 24 hour restaurant. Occasional availability outside scheduled hours is required, particularly on weekends and during periods of high volume, short staffing or inspection. The role involves extended periods of standing and walking, working in a hot kitchen environment, and lifting up to approximately 25 kilograms.

Compensation

Base salary of $65,000 to $80,000 per year
