**Job Title: General Production Worker**
**Job Description**
This role involves building custom crates, assisting with shipping and receiving construction equipment, and installing poly sheeting for climate control and weather protection.
You will work with hand and power tools, including nail guns and saws, and perform physically demanding tasks that require frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting.
The position is primarily based in a shop environment, with occasional travel to local sites to perform the same duties outdoors.
**Responsibilities**
Build wooden crates on site and in the shop to specified dimensions and standards.
Assist with shipping and receiving of construction equipment, including preparing items for packaging and shipment.
Hang sheets of poly for climate control and weather protection in and around crated or packaged goods.
Operate hand tools and power tools, including nail guns and skill saws, in a safe and efficient manner.
Measure and cut lumber accurately using tape measures and basic math skills.
Continuously bend, kneel, and work on hands and knees while assembling crates and packaging materials.
Travel to various local sites as required to perform crate building and related tasks outdoors.
Follow work orders, basic blueprints, or layout instructions to ensure crates and packaging meet requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials safely to prevent damage.
Adhere to all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.
**Essential Skills**
Experience operating a nail gun in a construction, shop, or similar labor environment.
Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in carpentry or crate assembly.
Skill saw experience for cutting lumber and other materials.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
Basic math skills to measure, mark, and cut lumber to correct dimensions.
Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively and perform physically demanding work involving frequent bending and kneeling.
English comprehension sufficient to understand instructions, safety guidelines, and work documentation.
General labor or construction/shop labor experience, particularly in environments involving shipping, crating, or carpentry.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Carpentry experience in a shop, construction, or similar setting.
Crate building or crate assembly experience.
Experience in construction or lumber shop environments.
Familiarity with basic blueprints or layout drawings.

**Work Environment**

The role is very physically demanding and involves frequent bending, kneeling, working on hands and knees, and lifting up to 50 lbs repetitively.
Employees work the afternoon shift from Monday to Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with some Saturdays as required.
The environment includes the use of hand tools, power tools such as nail guns and skill saws, and measuring equipment like tape measures.
The work setting can be uncomfortable for some due to the physical nature of the tasks and the need to work both indoors and outdoors, so candidates should be comfortable with sustained physical labor and a shop/construction-style dress code appropriate for using tools and handling materials.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
