Job Overview The Vocational Consultant and Disability Case Manager is responsible for assisting individuals experiencing injury, illness, disability, or employment disruption to successfully return to work, re-enter the labour force, or transition to alternative occupations.
The role combines vocational assessment, disability case management, return-to-work planning, labour market research, transferable skills analysis, career counselling, and employment placement support. The Consultant works directly with injured workers, employers, insurers, and healthcare providers to develop practical and sustainable rehabilitation and employment solutions.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong skills in vocational testing, administration and interpretation of Choices360 assessments, transferable skills analyses, labour market surveys, disability management principles, return-to-work coordination, and job search coaching.
General Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ skills, interests, and barriers to identify suitable vocational pathways
- Develop personalized employment plans that align with clients’ strengths and aspirations
- Facilitate engaging training sessions focused on job readiness, interview techniques, resume building, and workplace skills
- Coordinate with local employers and community partners to identify job opportunities and support placements
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and support throughout clients’ employment journeys
- Deliver targeted training & development programs designed to improve employability skills and promote career advancement
Vocational Assessment and Career Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments evaluating:

- Administer and interpret vocational and psychometric assessment instruments.
- Conduct structured vocational interviews to identify rehabilitation and employment goals.
- Evaluate vocational feasibility considering medical restrictions, labour market factors, and educational requirements.
- Develop evidence-based vocational recommendations and rehabilitation strategies.
Choices360 and Vocational Testing
- Administer and interpret Choices360 vocational assessment tools.
- Conduct:
- Interest Profilers
- Ability Profilers
- Skills Assessments
- Career Exploration Modules
- Occupational Matching Assessments
- Transferable Skills Assessments
- Assist clients in identifying realistic occupational options and career pathways.
- Integrate testing results into comprehensive vocational reports and return-to-work planning.
- Provide career counselling based on assessment outcomes.
Job Search and Employment Placement Services
- Provide individualized employment readiness and job search support.
- Assist clients with:
- Resume development
- Cover letter preparation
- Online application completion
- Interview preparation
- Interview coaching
- Mock interviews
- Networking strategies
- LinkedIn profile development
- Job search planning
- Assist clients in identifying employment opportunities aligned with their vocational objectives and functional abilities.
- Support direct job placement activities and employer outreach.
- Coach clients on disclosure and accommodation discussions during the hiring process.
- Monitor job search efforts and provide ongoing guidance and encouragement.
Experience
- Required designation:
- Registered Rehabilitation Skilled (RRP), or
- Canadian Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), plus
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability management, case management, occupational rehabilitation, or return-to-work services.
- Experience administering and interpreting Choices360 assessments.
- Experience conducting vocational evaluations and transferable skills analyses.
- Experience performing Labour Market Surveys and occupational research.
- Experience working with disability insurance, workers' compensation, auto insurance, or employer disability programs.
- Experience developing return-to-work plans and accommodation strategies.
- Experience supporting clients through job search and employment placement activities.
