Course Summary: In this course, students will learn how service designers take a human-centered approach to researching and designing solutions. Service Design is a subset of design disciplines that takes an action-oriented approach to co-design solutions with customers, citizens, or end-users. Service Design methodologies help us understand key pain points and preferences and prototype solutions based on the needs of actual consumers.

Instructor Qualifications: Required qualifications are an undergraduate degree in a design-related field; demonstrated expertise in service design, design thinking and/or business design; and a minimum of 5 years of skilled experience applying service design methods and approaches in organizational or business contexts.

Previous experience teaching service design, business design, or related coursework at the post-secondary level is preferred.

Class schedule: Course may be online or in person, depending on circumstances, so candidates must be available and comfortable with both.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1 - April 30, 2027

Salary Rates: Please refer to CUPE3902 Unit #3 rates for this Sessional Lecturer position. Notes: This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
