Our client is an established, reputable, and local mid-sized accounting and tax firm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, seeking an Accounting & Firm Coordinator to join their team.
This role would be a great fit for an Accounting Technician or Bookkeeper who enjoys a mix of accounting and administrative responsibilities and is looking for an opportunity with room to grow. Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Complete and support day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks
- Perform bank reconciliations and review bank and financial statements
- Assist with personal tax-related tasks and client documentation
- Act as a key point of contact for collecting and organizing client information
- Follow up with clients for outstanding forms, slips, and documentation
- Assist with front desk coverage and general administrative support
- Update and maintain internal databases and client records
- Assist with CRA-related correspondence and administrative tasks
- Prepare ad hoc reports and support other reporting needs
- Support accountants and tax preparers with file preparation and organization
- Complete repetitive and detail-oriented tasks accurately while also adapting to a variety of day-to-day priorities
- Provide professional, client-focused service and communication
- Support the team during the firm's busy tax seasons, particularly January through April
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- 3+ years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, and/or administrative experience
- Previous experience working in an accounting firm is strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, financial statements, and basic accounting processes
- Understanding of personal tax processes and documentation
- Strong administrative skills with excellent organization and attention to detail
- Client service-oriented with professional communication skills
- Comfortable managing repetitive, detail-focused work while also taking on varied tasks and priorities
- Able to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment and understand the demands of a busy tax season
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods, as required
- A proactive, dependable approach with an interest in building a long-term career within an accounting firm
