The Role

As an Apprentice Technician whether you are looking to start or continue your apprenticeship and work toward earning your Red Seal. You’ll gain hands-on experience from day one, working alongside a Red Seal journeyperson while developing your skills as you progress through each level of your apprenticeship.

This is more than an entry-level shop position. While you’ll start with foundational work such as oil changes and tires, your responsibilities will grow with your experience and apprenticeship level, including diagnostics, engine, transmission, and electrical work.

What The Path Looks Like

- Day one: registered with Apprenticeship Manitoba, journeyperson assigned, hours reported every six months so nothing stalls.
- Levels 1 and 2: the fundamentals.
- Levels 3 and 4: diagnostics and the heavy work.
- A raise at every level passed.

- Red Seal: write the exam. Then you train the next apprentice.
- School locations are RRC Polytech (Winnipeg) or Assiniboine College (Brandon).

What You'll Do

- Work alongside a Red Seal journeyperson who will provide one-to-one mentorship
- Complete foundational automotive service work, including oil changes and tire services
- Develop your skills and responsibilities as you progress through your apprenticeship levels
- Gain hands-on experience with diagnostics, engine, transmission, and electrical work
- Work on RAM, Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler vehicles
- Participate in training and work toward your Automotive Service Technician Red Seal
- Have your apprenticeship hours reported every six months to help keep your training on track

What We’re Looking For: (Basic Qualifications)

- Valid driver's licence
- Local to Portage la Prairie and surrounding area




- Strong communication and ability to contribute positively to a team
- Accountable, dependable, and committed to following through on commitments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Honest, trustworthy, and committed to doing the right thing
- No previous automotive experience required
- All apprentices are welcome to apply (Levels 1-4)

Bonus if you have: (Preferred Qualifications)

- Previous hands-on mechanical or automotive experience
- Previous experience working with tools or performing mechanical repairs
- Experience in an automotive shop setting

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Compensation: Starting at $22.14/hour or more depending on your current apprenticeship level.
