About Us

At British Swim School, we have been a trusted leader in swim education for over 40 years, dedicated to teaching water safety and survival skills to individuals of all ages. Our mission is to ensure that every person has the opportunity to become a safe, confident swimmer. As our local franchise expands, we are seeking a mature, dependable professional to join our team in a dual leadership and instructional role across our Oakville, Mississauga, and Burlington pools.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Aquatic Team Leader & Swim Instructor for a part-time position (15–20 hours per week).

This dynamic role requires a grounded, versatile professional who excels at both teaching in the water and leading on the deck. You will split your time between directly delivering high-quality swim instruction and supervising daily deck operations, mentoring instructors, and maintaining our high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Dual-Role Execution: Actively teach swim lessons across all age groups while simultaneously taking ownership of pool deck operations and leadership duties.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise daily pool operations, provide hands-on coaching and guidance to instructors, and foster a team environment built on accountability, safety, and professionalism.
- Training & Quality Control: Conduct onboarding and ongoing evaluation to ensure staff adhere to our proven curriculum. Lead by example in the water by demonstrating teaching techniques and covering shifts as needed.
- Safety & Operations: Oversee pool safety, enforce facility rules, monitor water quality/chemical balances, and resolve potential hazards proactively.

- Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency responses with complete composure, including administering First Aid or CPR when necessary.
- Parent & Patron Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact on the pool deck for parents and swimmers, answering questions, providing progress updates, and resolving concerns.

Skills & Qualifications

- Maturity & Reliability: A grounded, professional mindset with proven decision-making skills, emotional composure under pressure, and the independence to manage operations across multiple sites.
- Dual Expertise: Strong background in swim instruction combined with supervisory or team leadership experience in aquatics, recreation, or education.
- Multi-Location Availability: Ability to reliably commute between our locations across Oakville, Mississauga, and Burlington.
- Strong Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to connect warmly with children, communicate clearly with parents, and effectively mentor staff.
- Physical & Schedule Flexibility: Ability to teach active in-water classes, manage equipment setup, and work a flexible part-time schedule (15–20 hours/week, including evenings and weekends).
- Required Certifications:

Standard First Aid / CPR-C and recognized Swim Instructor / Lifeguard certifications (or equivalent demonstrated experience; ongoing recertification support available).

Why Join Us?

- Competitive Part-Time Pay: Paid training and an hourly leadership rate reflective of your experience.
- Flexible Schedule: Structured 15–20 hour work week designed to offer impact without full-time hours.
- Proven Curriculum: Deliver lessons using a world-class, methodology-backed swim program.
