Back End Developer (Python)

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Back End Developer (Python) to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in Python, APIs, databases, and cloud-based distributed systems.

Responsibilities

- Design and deliver high-quality backend features and enhancements

- Own end-to-end delivery of large features within the team

- Collaborate with engineers to create technical design specifications

- Participate in sprint planning and provide development estimates

- Build secure and scalable backend solutions

- Optimize performance of distributed systems to meet SLAs

- Review code and provide constructive feedback to team members

- Mentor junior engineers and support best coding practices

Required Qualifications





- 5+ years of experience in software development

- Strong experience with Python

- Experience with SQL and MySQL databases

- Solid understanding of RESTful API development

- Experience with AWS or cloud platforms

- Hands-on experience with Docker and container-based systems

- Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems

- Experience with RabbitMQ or message brokers

- Familiar with *Linux / Unix (nix) environments

- Experience using Git or GitHub

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent

Nice to Have

- Experience integrating with Payroll Providers

- Experience with Time & Attendance systems
