The Business Development Manager, Public Sector – Alberta will be responsible for growing ASUS Commercial business across the Alberta public sector, with a primary focus on K-12 education, post-secondary institutions, provincial and municipal government, healthcare, and other public-sector organizations.
The role will focus on developing end-user relationships, identifying and qualifying opportunities, building a strong pipeline, and working closely with ASUS channel partners, distributors, and internal teams to convert opportunities into revenue.
This is an end-user focused business development role. The BDM will own the customer relationship and opportunity from early engagement through the procurement process, while coordinating with ASUS Channel Account Managers and authorized partners for fulfillment and execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop Public-Sector Business in Alberta
- Build and grow ASUS relationships with Alberta public-sector organizations.
- Focus on key segments including:
- K-12 school boards and school divisions
- Colleges, universities, and technical institutions
- Provincial government
- Municipalities
- Healthcare organizations
- Other public agencies
- Identify upcoming device refreshes, infrastructure projects, tenders, and procurement opportunities.
- Build relationships with IT leaders, procurement teams, technology decision-makers, and senior stakeholders.
2. Build and Manage Pipeline
- Maintain a healthy and measurable public-sector prospect pipeline.
- Identify opportunities well in advance of formal RFP or tender publication whenever possible.
- Qualify opportunities based on:
- Customer requirements
- Estimated units and revenue
- Budget
- Timeline
- Competition
- Procurement vehicle
- Partner strategy
- Maintain accurate opportunity information, next steps, and forecasts in Salesforce.
- Provide regular pipeline, forecast, and account updates to management.
3. Own End-User Engagement
- Act as the primary ASUS commercial contact for assigned public-sector customers.
- Conduct customer meetings, discovery sessions, product presentations, and technology discussions.
- Understand customer priorities around device lifecycle, manageability, security, service, warranty, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.
- Position ASUS commercial solutions including:
- ExpertBook
- Chromebook
- Commercial desktops and All-in-One PCs
- Warranty, onsite service, and lifecycle solutions
4. Develop Education Business Education will be a major focus of the role.
- Develop relationships with Alberta school divisions and education technology teams.
- Understand Chromebook and Windows device strategies by school division.
- Identify annual and multi-year refresh opportunities.
- Support evaluations, pilots, proof-of-concepts, and device demonstrations.
- Work with customers to position ASUS based on reliability, manageability, serviceability, lifecycle cost, and student/teacher requirements.
- Develop opportunities before major education procurement cycles.
5. Manage Public-Sector Procurement Opportunities
- Monitor and develop opportunities through provincial, municipal, education, and federal procurement vehicles.
- Work closely with internal teams and channel partners on:
- RFPs
- RFQs
- Tenders
- Standing offers
- Vendor-of-record programs
- Support bid strategy, pricing coordination, product selection, and competitive positioning.
- Ensure opportunities are properly registered and managed according to ASUS public-sector opportunity and deal-registration processes.
6. Work With Channel Partners
- Work closely with ASUS Channel Account Managers and authorized resellers to execute public-sector opportunities.
- Identify the appropriate partner strategy for each opportunity.
- Support joint customer meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and account planning.
- Maintain ASUS ownership of the end-user relationship while enabling partners to efficiently transact and deliver the solution.
7. Territory and Account Planning
- Build a structured Alberta public-sector territory plan.
- Identify:
- Top strategic accounts
- Installed-base opportunities
- Competitive displacement opportunities
- Upcoming refresh cycles
- Key procurement vehicles
- Maintain account plans for major strategic customers.
- Develop quarterly activity and opportunity plans.
8. Forecasting and Reporting
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records for all customer activities and opportunities.
- Provide weekly forecast and pipeline updates.
- Track performance against quarterly and annual targets.
- Prepare and present business reviews and QBR updates.

Candidate Profile The successful candidate should have:
- 4+ years of experience in B2B technology sales, public-sector sales, business development, or account management.
- Experience selling technology solutions into government, education, healthcare, or other public-sector organizations.
- Strong understanding of Alberta's public-sector and education markets.
- Experience working with IT decision-makers, procurement teams, and senior customer stakeholders.
- Understanding of public-sector procurement, RFP, RFQ, and tender processes.
- Experience working with VARs, resellers, distributors, and technology partners.
- Ability to independently develop new accounts and create opportunities.
- Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and long sales cycles.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment requiring hands-on pipeline management and reporting.
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM platform.
Preferred Experience The following would be considered an advantage:
- Experience selling commercial PCs, notebooks, Chromebooks, or endpoint technology.
- Existing relationships within Alberta school divisions, post-secondary institutions, municipalities, provincial government, or healthcare organizations.
- Knowledge of Windows commercial devices and ChromeOS environments.
- Familiarity with Canadian public-sector procurement vehicles and cooperative purchasing programs.
- Experience working for an OEM, reseller, distributor, or major technology provider.
Territory and Travel
- Primary territory: Alberta
- Regular customer and partner travel throughout Alberta will be required.
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required for ASUS meetings, partner events, training, and QBRs.
