About the role: The carpenter plays a vital role in construction, repairs, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and aesthetic quality of buildings both internal and external of properties. This position involves cutting, shaping, and installing wood structures such as doors, cabinetry, flooring, and roofing, as well as repairing and restoring existing elements as needed. Carpenters coordinate with other trades to support seamless project execution and are responsible for estimating costs, procuring materials, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards.

Duties also include documenting work thoroughly, maintaining clean and organized job sites, and being flexible with working hours, including overtime and on-call shifts. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well in a team are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

- Inspect work sites to determine the type and amount of material/equipment required for carpentry work.




- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
- Cutting, shaping and smoothing lumber and other materials according to measurements.
- Installation of all different types of doors, windows, baseboards, floorings, kitchen cabinets, closets, baseboards, blinds, ceramic tiles, drywalls, access panels, mirrors, shelfing, countertops, decks, fences, handrails. Installing wooden structures such as roofing framers, joists, partitions, rafters, and nail work, and other related carpentry works.
- Adding fittings and fixtures including door handles, hinges, locks, and closures
- Selecting lumber as per the requirements of the project and sourcing wood that fits within budget and meets style specifications
- Provide cost estimates and quotes for a project.
- Liaising with clients to discuss project details, budgets, and timelines
- Coordinate with suppliers to procure and manage carpentry materials and equipment required for projects.
- Perform regular maintenance and safety inspections on carpentry systems.
- Take before and after pictures, and detailed notes on each work order.
- Coordinate with other trades, such as electricians, gas fitters, plumbers, groundskeepers, carpenters, painters,



and cleaners.

Candidate Requirements:

- Ability to operate hand and power tools including drills, saws, nail guns, chisels, and sanders.
- Strong understanding of carpentry procedures, tools, and safety protocols.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations and codes and safety standards.
- Problem-solving in identifying carpentry issues and providing solutions to resolve such issues.
- To be on call on a routine basis (after 4 PM, weekends, and statutory holidays).
- Maintain inventory and report deficiencies
- Willingness to learn and adapt efficiently and effectively.
- Strong teamwork spirit.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with owners, tenants, clients and team members.

Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities:

- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) all the time at work.
- Able to lift, handle, and move heavy carpentry tools and materials.
- Able to withstand hours of work while standing, crouching or taking other rigorous positions.
- Able to work overtime if needed.
- Ability to carry larger items.
- Willing to work adaptable and extended hours as required by project demands.
- Work in confined spaces.
