The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.

The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.

In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students. Job Summary The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) General Assembly Delegate represents AMS students at OUSA’s General Assembly, contributing to the development of provincial post-secondary education policy and advocacy priorities. Delegates work as part of the AMS delegation to bring Queen’s student perspectives, experiences, and priorities into discussions with student representatives from OUSA member institutions across Ontario.

Communication Organization Ownership Attention to Detail Attend all training sessions to become familiar with OUSA and the General Assembly process. Be productive, efficient and attentive in completing steps assigned to delegates. Respect and adhere to all procedures as outlined in the OUSA procedures and policy manual.

Follow all AMS policy as outlined in the Volunteer Policy and Procedures Manual Be contributive, prepared, and engaged with OUSA Breakout sessions, plenary, and training for OUSA General Assembly

Job Requirements

Ability to be accountable, set expectations and monitor progress of all different aspects of the assembly process to expectations. Sound analytical thinking, planning and prioritization skills

Time Commitment

Commitment is throughout October in delegate training sessions and attending the Winter OUSA General Assembly from November 5-8th. The General Assembly is held at Queen's University in Kingston, ON and you will be required to be present for the entire duration of the trip.
