The Connecting to Place through Disaster Response (CPDR) project is exploring how post-secondary institutions can effectively support surrounding communities through a collaborative response to climate disasters. This five-year study is co-led by the University of Regina and Community Campus Engage Canada (CCECanada), and includes a team of academic, nonprofit, grassroots, and government partners as well as students from across Canada. The project is funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Partnership Grant.

The Communications and Evaluation Coordinator will provide support to CCECanada in managing knowledge transfer, partner/public engagement, and impact tracking for the CPDR project. This part-time role involves helping to design and execute communications and evaluation strategies, analyzing project data, writing reports, and coordinating digital outreach to ensure research activities and findings effectively reach academic, public, and partner audiences.

Location: Remote

Position type: Part-time fixed-term contractor position (average 15 hours per week, November 2, 2026 – February 25, 2028), with possibility of extension

Compensation: $35 per hour

Key responsibilities:

Communications:

- Help to assemble and implement a project communications plan
- Support development of project updates, newsletter posts, blog posts, press releases and other communications materials
- Create and manage project social media channels
- Provide occasional supervision of student research assistant communications activities

Evaluation:

- Help to assemble and implement a project developmental evaluation plan
- Track project goals, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Collect and analyse data on project outcomes related to key areas of impact
- Write/inform progress reports for project partners, communities, and other public audiences

Partner/public engagement:

- Help to plan virtual and in-person meetings, workshops, and webinars




- Build strong ties with community partners, researchers, and the public
- Communicate with media representatives about the project

Qualifications:

Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Project Management, English/Creative Writing, or a related field

Experience: 1-3 years of work related to communications, project coordination, program evaluation, or a related field; this requirement is flexible, and may include internships or co-op terms, volunteering and student leadership roles, or post-secondary research projects

Skills:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
- Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and evaluation methods
- Knowledge of digital tools, social media platforms, and content management systems
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of Canadian disaster policy context is an asset
- Bilingual fluency in English and French is an asset
