Join the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) as a Community Counsellor in Deline, where you will play a vital role in providing culturally relevant mental health, addictions, wellness, and family support services. This is more than a job. It is an prospect to build meaningful relationships, work alongside Elders and community partners, and contribute to lasting positive change in a vibrant Indigenous community
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, family, and group counselling services.
- Support clients experiencing mental health, addictions, trauma, and family violence concerns.
- Conduct intake, assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up services.
- Complete suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention.
- Coordinate care and connect clients with cultural and community resources.
- Deliver wellness education, prevention programming, and community workshops.
- Collaborate with Elders, healthcare providers, schools, RCMP, and community partners.
- Participate in on-the-land and culturally relevant programming.
Key Qualifications:
- A Diploma in Social Sciences; and
(Social Service Work, Psychology, Counselling, Child and Youth)
- Two (2) years of direct counselling experience; and
- Has lived/is living in a Northern Indigenous community for a minimum of Two (2) years and has had interactions with wellness services as a service provider or participant.
