About Us
PEOPLE EMPOWERING PEOPLE
As one of our valued front-line Support Workers in our Residential Program, we are seeking a support staff to support a complex needs Individual with diverse needs by encouraging opportunities for independence, well-being, and inclusion.
Care Human
Services supports a variety of Individuals and are looking for support specifically for an adult with complex behavioural needs in a high stress environment.
Care Human
Services is an accredited, not-for-profit, charitable, organization that provides a wide range of community and accreditation services in Northwest Alberta.
This is a unique opportunity to utilize your combination of patience, passion, skill, and a calm demeanor while building rapport with an Individual with unique and complex needs. You will work directly with the Individual's Support Team to deliver Pro-Social Programming while being exposed to and receive training in specialized techniques. You will also help the Individuals increase skill development by implementing Planned Positive Approaches.
This Individual has developmental challenges that require a very specific person to support him. He is charismatic and enjoys interacting with others and being physically active. He needs a person willing to connect with him and assist him with engaging positively with the community.
Being a very complex young man, his behaviour can change quickly, moving from happy and engaged to frustrated and aggressive. Aggression typically takes the form of verbal aggression (yelling and gesturing) and can escalate to physical aggression, throwing things, hitting, kicking, or punching. He needs someone who is not easily intimidated,
committed to supporting him through escalated behaviour, who has firm boundaries, and is confident in enforcing them.
We are seeking someone who is capable of being both firm and empathetic. Caregivers will require training to support this person safely and effectively.
In this diverse and rewarding role, your other responsibilities may include collecting data, transporting the Individual to medical appointments, social outings and community activities, activities including: walking, riding bikes, playing sports, assisting with medications, and computer documentation.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate person who can clearly see the potential of each Individual, and who will assist this Individual in experiencing a safe and meaningful life as a valued member of their community. As a caring and integral member of this team, you will adhere to all of the agency's Policies and Procedures, work directly with Supervisors, Behavioural Specialists, and other team members to help promote Pro-Social community inclusion, and you will report directly to the Residence's Team Lead.
