About Us

PEOPLE EMPOWERING PEOPLE

As one of our valued front-line Support Workers in our Residential Program, you will work directly with Individuals with diverse needs by encouraging opportunities for independence, well-being, and inclusion.

Care Human

Services supports Individuals who range from children to adults, and lower level needs to complex behavioural needs in higher stress environments.

Care Human

Services is an accredited, not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides a wide range of community services in Northwest Alberta.

Care Human Services is currently seeking staff to support a young adult with an extensive trauma history and bevy of mental health and developmental challenges that require a very specific person to support him. He enjoys gaming, gardening, and has a soft spot for animals. He needs a person willing to connect with him and help him make sense of the world around him, while challenging him to think about his actions in terms of possible outcomes.

Being a very complex young man, his behaviour can change quickly, moving from happy and a little hyper, to dark and aggressive. Aggression typically takes the form of verbal insults, demands, questioning, and accusations; however, he can escalate to physical aggression, hitting, kicking, or punching. He often attempts to intimidate others by standing close and puffing up his chest, testing the reactions of those around him.

He is very intelligent and witty, with a dark sense of humor and needs firm boundaries and a confident person to enforce them. Caregivers will require a great deal of training to support this person safely and effectively.

In this diverse and rewarding role, your other responsibilities may include collecting data,

transporting the Individual to medical appointments, social outings and community activities, playing video games, watching movies (according to programming), assisting with medications, and computer documentation.

This Individual works best with Support Workers who have more masculine traits, who can be physically imposing, and can defend themselves. This Individual does have a history of sexual aggression and harassment with people who display feminine characteristics.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate person who can clearly see the potential of each Individual, and who will assist this Individual in experiencing a secure and meaningful life as a valued member of their community. As a caring and integral member of this team, you will adhere to all the Agency's Policies and Procedures, work directly with the Supervisors, Behavioural Specialists and other team members, help to promote Pro-Social community inclusion, and will report directly to the Residence's Team Lead.
